Cage Layout: Giving a Bird Somewhere to Go
Cage size gets all the attention. How the space inside is arranged matters nearly as much.
Horizontal beats vertical
Most small parrots fly across rather than up. A wide cage is more usable than a tall one of the same volume.
Keep a clear flight line
Filling the middle with toys leaves nowhere to move. Keep the centre open and put furniture near the sides.
Leave a quiet corner
One spot with cover on two sides, high in the cage, gives a bird somewhere to retreat when the room is busy.
