Introducing New Perches Without Stress
Birds are neophobic. A new object placed straight into the cage can be alarming rather than enriching.
Show it first
Leave the new perch outside the cage but in view for a day or two before fitting it.
Change one thing at a time
Replacing every perch in one session removes all the familiar footing at once.
Expect a few days
A bird that ignores a new perch for a week has not rejected it. Leave it in place.
