Cleaning Wooden Perches Without Ruining Them
Natural wood is the best perch material and the one people are least sure how to clean.
Dry-clean first
Most soiling comes off with a stiff brush once dry. That alone is enough for weekly maintenance.
When to wash
For a deeper clean, scrub with hot water and no detergent, then dry completely before refitting. Damp wood grows mould.
When to replace
When the surface stays soft after drying, or when chewing has thinned it enough to flex. Both are normal wear on a perch doing its job.
