Perch Diameter: Why One Size Causes Sore Feet

The problem with uniform perches
A bird gripping the same diameter all day loads the same points on its feet continuously. Over months that shows up as pressure sores.
Vary the diameter
Natural branch perches taper, so a single branch offers several diameters. Two or three different perches across the cage does the same job.
Placement matters too
Highest perch away from the food bowls, so droppings do not land in them.
